Sommelier
Summary
We are looking for an experienced Sommelier to join the team at various locations from KNEAD Hospitality and Design.
Job Summary: We are looking for a professional, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable Sommelier to lead wine and beverage sales. The Sommelier’s primary responsibility is to assists the management, bartender and server staff in creating a cohesive, memorable dining experience through beverage recommendations, sales and execution during service hours of operation. The Sommelier is responsible for maintaining and promoting the restaurant’s wine and beverage collection. The Sommelier will also participate in staff training, wine list maintenance, beverage inventory, and maintain proper inventory levels of wine and beverage selections. The Sommelier will work closely with the Beverage Director and Beverage Manager to create a world class dining destination. We are seeking an individual with excellent communication skills, strong work ethic, integrity, passion for hospitality, commitment to excellence, who understands the importance of teamwork. Ability to multi-task is a must!
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
• Ability to portray Service as an Art: Profession, Knowledgeable, Efficient, Unobtrusive, Ridiculously Friendly
• Display professional presentation and demeanor at all times
• Responsible for ordering, receiving, inventory, organizing and selling wine for the restaurant
• Assist with all wine purchases and cost management
• Assist guests during dining service with wine recommendations and selection for perfect pairing with their meal, decanting of the wine and wine service.
• Train staff employees in order to maximize their understanding of wine specific to the restaurant and proper service techniques including glassware, pour levels, storage, beverage pairings and the ability to understand guest preferences.
• Tastes and evaluates wines and other beverages for potential purchase.
• Ensure that all wine is served in proper glassware and in proper condition.
• Maintain all beverage lists to be accurate, up to date and free of errors.
• Comply with all health, safety and hygiene standards and policies
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications and requirements
Qualifications:

Required Experience:
• Minimum 21 years of age
• Minimum 3 years Sommelier experience high volume, upscale, fast-paced restaurant
• Excellent knowledge of classic and emerging wine regions
• Excellent knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits and liqueurs
• Excellent knowledge of wine and beverage service procedures
• Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers, or equivalent certification and/or corresponding knowledge/experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• Able to communicate clearly and effectively (verbal & written)
• Able to stay positive and calm under pressure
• Possess strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
• Possess strong mathematic and financial skills
• Strong knowledge of pricing, budgets and cost controls
• Ability to determine wine faults
• Ability to coordinate wine presentation
• Ability to upsell
• Outstanding guest services skills
• Ability to operate POS system
• Professional presentation
• Ability to create WOW! moments for guest
